The Voodoos
The Voodoos
Originally hailing from Ireland, THE VOODOOS are a five-piece band consisting of Mark Daly (vocals), Nick Greatrex (guitars, vocals), Mick Bogan (bass), Olsin Hennessy (lead guitars, vocals) and Fionn Hennessy (drums, vocals) that actually formed last year on the Costa Blanca in Spain.

Performing their unique brand of rock wherever and whenever they could (and conquering several Battle of the Bands competitions along the way), it wouldn't be long before THE VOODOOS garnered a mass following from Spanish locals and tourists from all over the world, predominately Ireland and England.

Influenced by a wide range of rock royalty such as Led Zeppelin, Foo Fighters, Counting Crows and Kings of Leon, THE VOODOOS found the creative streak that was needed to take their musical ambitions to another level. The band began writing more of their own songs and slipping them into their performance. Local television and radio quickly took notice of their original compositions and the band would find themselves performing for both networks and stations along with fairs and festivals around the Costa Blanca.

As luck of the Irish would have it, someone in the upper echelon of the Radiohead camp spotted THE VOODOOS at a gig in Spain. Recognizing their unique, raw and energetic brand of music, they were quick to bring the boys over to Courtyard Studios in Oxfordshire (Radiohead/Supergrass/Badly Drawn Boy/Stereophonics/Others), where they recorded a demo with notable producer Ian Davenport, who had previously worked with the likes of Stereophonics, Richard Walters and Band of Skulls.

Since the beginning of the year, THE VOODOOS have been going non-stop, focusing on both touring and writing their first album, which already includes original songs such as "Yesterdays Future," "Restless," "Laugh Without Smiling" and "One More For Luck."

After returning from extensive dates throughout Europe, THE VOODOOS will be joining the multi-platinum rock band, Queensryche, beginning August 9th for a string of approximately a dozen dates in the States.

"This is the first new band I've seen in quite a while that has really got my attention," states Queensryche lead singer Geoff Tate. "These guys have great energy!"

Tate was so impressed that he and his wife, Queensryche manager Susan Tate, asked THE VOODOOS to join Queensryche on tour and have some fun.

And how can they can not? It'll be the Voodoos first tour of the U.S.!
In the midst of all the musical things that are necessary to keep the band alive and thriving, the lads are not only able to get along as band mates but as great friends as well.

Part ritual, part charm, part magic...

THE VOODOOS will definitely put a spell on you.
