Jorge Mário da Silva was born in 1970 in Belford Roxo in Rio de Janeiro, and soon knew he wanted to be a musician. He went through several jobs since 10 years, was goer dances and Rio samba circles, and began to sing early in the evening. He left home at 19 and was homeless for a few years, where he made his first contact with the theater. Discovered by clarinetist Paulo Moura, she auditioned for a musical and since then her life has changed completely.

Seu Jorge (nickname given by his friend and drummer Marcelo Yuka) achieved his first professional success as a musician in 1998: member of farofa carioca band released the album Live in Brazil in Portugal, Japan and Brazil.

In 2001 launched the first solo album Samba Esporte Fino, produced by Mario Caldato and Seu Jorge, mixed and mastered in Los Angeles. The following year he composed with Ed Motta music has room in Van, and also held the top party samba project called Caatinga Swing, with performances in a nightclub in the south of Rio and Skol Rio.

In 2003 he recorded the RAW disk Itaipava, with French music producer Jerome Pigeon, and that same year he composed in partnership with singer Ana Carolina, the Beat of Beata music and not talk that way to drive her great success, Print.

In 2004 he recorded in Rome the music video for the song I had reason, with participation by actors Willem Dafoe and Bill Murray, directed by Mariana Jorge. Then he released the DVD MTV Presents Seu Jorge and composed with the IDB musician and band then the Bambas disk and biritas Vol. 1.

For two consecutive years (2003 and 2004) won the award APCA [São Paulo Association of Art Critics] best singer of the year.

In September 2004 launched the CRU drive in France (the Naïve label), and in England, resulting in 5 stars in French and English critics, editorial emphasis on magazines Rolling Stone, Elle France, Vogue France and participation in live programs television. It was hailed by the European public and media as a new great representative of Brazilian music. He was invited by the BBC television network to sing alongside Black Eyed Peas and Foo Fighters in the trendy television show Jools Holand, which returned a few years later. Still in the same period made the release concert DVD The Life Aquatic, touched the Place de la Bastille in Paris, alongside Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Lenin, Daniela Mercury and Jorge Ben Jor, did a show at the Jazz Festival Montreux and went in tournê Europe.

In mid-2005 he launched RAW in Japan, which had accumulated a large number of fans from the farofa carioca. Upon returning to Brazil he recorded the album and DVD of the show Seu Jorge & Ana Carolina - Live.

In September of the same year led to the US to tour the CRU drive in major cities in the country sold out at all.

During Carnival 2006 he recorded a documentary for BBC London, whose theme was his life, aired on South Bank Show program, and then displayed in Brazil, United States and Europe. In April, he opened the shows of Cape verdense singer Cesaria Evora in New York, Boston and Washington, and in May Seu Jorge received Gilles Petterson and CNN in your home to recording a program carried worldwide. Between the months of June and July, we held a tour in the US and Canada, performing 21 shows in 29 days, including the closure of the Miami Film Festival; Bonnaroo Festival in Manchester; Stern Grove Festival in San Francisco; Coastal Jazz Festival in Vancouver; Summerstage Festival in Central Park in New York; Montreal Jazz Festival; Quebec City Summer Festival, among others, with public acclaim and American media, which gave him extra energy to stretch the tour of the UK and Portugal.

At the end of 2006 focused on the recording and production of America Brazil - Disco, under which was on tour for two consecutive years in national and international soil. In January 2009, he recorded America Brazil DVD.

In July 2010 he released the album Seu Jorge & Almaz by American label Now Again. The project was born in 2008, when he was invited to sing a song on the soundtrack of the film Linha de Passe, by Walter Salles and Daniela Thomas. The meeting with Lucio Maia musicians, Pupillo and Antonio Pinto came a strong friendship and the desire to make a record. Twelve versions of songs chosen by them were recorded as soon, but the release of the disc only happened two years later, according to the agendas of those involved. In mid-2010 a tour of 16 shows in major American cities was performed with immense success and recognition.

In 2011 it launched the music album Barbecue Vol. 1, and on 20 November the same year, the National Day of Black Consciousness, recorded the DVD blockbuster.
The launch took place one year later, on the same date.

Seu Jorge defines himself as a singer and popular composer, who like many musical genres, but whose foundation is the samba: Samba is our truth, our particularity, it is our gold medal, our bulwark, our Brazilian flag
